Team Mizzie Mice: Madison - 16 years old, Sophia - 16 years old, and Isabel - 15 years old. From Toronto, Canada at Harbord Collegiate Institute

In this game, you will face three levels before encountering the Magma Lord himself. In these levels, you will play a Platform game (WAD to move, click to throw spoon/water plants) to help the earth territory, a Puzzle (CLICK and HOLD to drag puzzle pieces) to help the water territory, and finally a Flying game (MOUSE controls player) to aid the air territory.

As a team, we wanted to avoid copying any sort of previous game or television show and be as creative as possible. We related our game to the theme by using element themed kingdoms with element based problems. Our main character has no ties to any sort of element- he’s just a regular chef! But he must travel through each kingdom to save them and receive prizes from each respective territory.

As for the challenges we faced, the biggest one was splitting the work up and finishing it in our limited time. Our game required a lot of beautifully drawn cutscenes and sprites- which take a long time to draw. As for the coding, we wanted to incorporate as much as possible, which resulted in us making four different types of games for each level. This came with a multitude of challenges, such as getting the spoon to boomerang back to the player or have the puzzle pieces collide on the board. Despite it all, we were able to put our heads together and achieve what we desired.

Our highlights for the regional challenge were coming together to create the best game possible and really developing our skills. Our favourite part was designing the elemental Lords and developing the lore. We learnt so much from each other! While it may have been stressful and resulted in a lot of late nights, Mizzie Mice is very proud of the game we created!!
